When I was seven, I lived in a yurt in Colorado. When I was 10, I was Indiana Jones in the forest and Luke Skywalker on Degobah. I owned about a hundred rattlesnakes when I was 15 and I took pictures of them. That's when it started. When I was 17, I dropped out of high school, left home and crash landed in New Orleans. Later, I ventured west and went to the best photography school I could find; thankfully just before it was ruined by for-profit education vultures. C’est la vie. After that I spent a decade in LA as, at various times, a studio manager, producer, art director, lighting designer or digital capturer (is capturer a word?) for some of the best-loved photographers around: Mark Seliger, Ruven Afanador, Greg Lotus, John Russo, to name drop a little. Many lessons were learned.
LA is a great place to take a break from, so I’m trying Berlin on for size. Someone told me this is the place to be, whatever that means. I like it but I miss all the kale.
